Voice of Business (VoB) has unveiled its 7th issue on 28thMarch, 2016 in the presence of noted personalities.
VoB is the largest student run publication of the country founded in May, 2007 by the students of eight departments of the Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka. VoB focuses on stories that provide students with a broader understanding of business leadership, industry innovation, corporate communication, international perspectives and career track advice from professionals.
Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya, Distinguished Fellow of Center for Policy Dialogueone of the honorable guests of the ceremony said “Bangladesh is a very young country where 70% of our population now born after 1971. We have a great ‘Demographic Dividend’. In a country young like this, if we can use these youths as resources and produce not only great degrees but also great minds, we can go neck by neck with the leading countries”.Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Treasurer of University of Dhaka was also present at the unveiling ceremony. The Dean of FBS Prof. Dr. Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam attended the program and said to prepare the students up to the international standard. He wanted to emphasize on the building the knowledge level of the students. The special guest Ishtiaq Ahmed, CEO of Omera Petroleum Ltd was also present. He encouraged the students to take part in extra-curricular activities alongside studies.
In the second session of the day, there was a seminar about Entrepreneurship. Some of the intellectual minds of Bangladesh shared their views about the challenges and opportunities in the path of this journey.Minhaz Ahmed, founder of Better Stories Bangladesh, FahadIfaz, M4P Project Lead in Myanmar | Private sector and Market Development (M4P) Consultant andFerdousMottakin, Founder, VISA Thing were the speakers of this session.
Followed by the unveiling ceremony VoB has planned 4 days long events including seminars (leadership, women empowerment (day-2), youth carnival (day-3) and case competition (day-4). “VoB Week-2016” will come to an end with an event participated by former and current VoB members on 31st March. Different youth organizations such as- BYLC, SBYA, Jaago Foundation, Community Action, Action Aid and BASIS will participate in the youth carnival.
In the second day of the “VoB Week-2016”, there was a seminar about Women leadership. Some of the intellectual minds of Bangladesh shared their views about the challenges and opportunities in the path of this journey. Zara Mahbub, Head of Communication and Service quality, Professor Dr. MehtabKhanam,renowned counselor, Najia Andaleeb Preema, Director of Bangladesh Brand Forum and JesminEhsan, CFO of Ericson Bangladesh were the speakers of this session. The speakers provided insights on women leadership in business industry in Bangladesh and combining passion into corporate world. Dr. MehtabKhanam focused on the need of women to stand up for them.
